Can you tell the difference?

Recently, the paper industry has faced some difficult issues based on the legitimacy of measurements on their product specifications.  Here’s an article from Tissue World Magazine by Jon Thomson of von Drehle Corporation, questioning whether the paper industry is going “the way of the 2-by-4.”  It is now common knowledge that a piece of lumber specified as a 2-by-4 is really not measured as 2 inches by 4 inches.  The same goes for a half gallon of ice cream, was well as many other products on the market.

There have been many other articles on this topic, including one from CleanLink’s Sanitary Maintenance magazine.  Here’s another article from their two part series on this, called “Defining Cheater Paper.”  Some “bargain” paper manufacturers are moving toward this practice, which is very unfair to the customer.  If a product is specified to be a certain size, the product that you are receiving should be just that.  To find out whether or not the product is what it was specified, one can weigh the case or single roll and compare and contrast the measurement with different cases or rolls of paper.  Weight cannot be faked!

Von Drehle Corporaton works with Riley Maintenance Systems to make sure that our clients know exactly what they are receiving when they order paper products from us.  If you have any questions about this topic, please contact a sales representative to explain more about this.

Cool Von Drehle Marketing

Check out this cool advertisement from Maintenance Sales News that features our paper products from Von Drehle Paper Corp.  It shows the strength of their dispensers, as they were able to put a Cadillac Escalade on 4 dispensers without any of them breaking!  We thought that was a pretty cool way to show their strength.

Von Drehle’s website has more information about their company, including dispensers, paper products, and environmental initiative.
