None of us want to think of the winter time, but because of the ice melter shortage situation last year, we really have to speak about it earlier. This year, we have 3 products up for sale, all of which we have carried for years: SSS Select Blend, SSS Ice Melter with MG104 and SSS Commercial Blend. Please call our office at (607) 786-3766 or speak with a representative today to get preseason pricing on ice melter! There is a discount on the product now as we are very early in the season and even more of a discount based on volume!
Here is new product literature on the SSS Ice Melter offerings!
From CleanLink, here is some additional information about the new GHS label changes to the chemicals that we use.
It is with deep regret that RMS announces the passing of Paul Merrick on April 17, 2014. We have lost a dear friend and valued colleague. Each of us not only grieves at the passing of a tremendous individual, but also for the loss his family suffers. Paul will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by his RMS family for all of the good times and all he has done for RMS over the years. He was a mentor, friend, coworker and last but certainly not least, a man who seldom encountered an industry machine that he could not repair. He even designed a correction to a major flaw in a machine design that affected its durability, which was adapted by the manufacturer. We will miss him greatly, but are very thankful to have had the privilege to work with and know him.
We wanted to inform everyone that Dave Anderson is no longer with Riley Maintenance Systems as of Monday, March 31. Dave took a position at a company, outside of the janitorial supply industry, that was much closer to his home. Dave was with RMS for 13 years and we all had a great time working with him. Everyone at RMS wants to thank Dave for all that he has done for the company as well as for the good times throughout the years. We also want to wish him the best of luck in his new endeavor!
If you normally contacted Dave to place an order, you can call the office and speak with any one of us at (607) 786-3766. If you would like a sales representative to stop by your facility, just let us know! You can also email the general sales account: sales@rmsjansan.com. If you would like to be set up with an online account to use the website for ordering, please call the main office and speak with either Steve or Kevin. We will help you get set up and ready to go!
Be sure to check out the products that RMS has currently on sale for Winter 2014! These can be seen on the sales flyers that are e-mailed out or given out by sales representatives, as well as on the company website under ‘Featured Products.’
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask anyone at RMS about the current sales. Have a great weekend!
Due to the harsh winter conditions so far this year, ice melter has been very difficult for RMS to stock. We have been receiving letters from vendors that are backed up on ice melter orders as well, due to all of the crazy storms that have been seen in the North Eastern United States. Here is a letter we received from Triple S to make us aware of the current situation:
SSS Letter to Customers on 13-14 Season
We would just like everyone to know that there is a shortage throughout the country, but we will continue to try our best to stock ice melter and get it out to everyone as soon as we can. With any questions, please contact an RMS sales representative. Thank you for your patience!
After the changes and training that we saw before December 1 2013, OSHA is now moving forward and using the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) in the United States for standardizing the labeling and classifications of chemical hazards. Employees were trained and now the emphasis is on the actual labeling of the chemicals, as well as the creation of new Safety Data Sheets (SDS) by the manufacturers. These changes must be completed no later than June 1, 2015; although it’s expected to come much earlier than that.
Scott Warrington of Cleaning and Maintenance Management magazine wrote a very informative article for those that are interested in these changes, and provides details of what to look for in the new labeling of their chemicals: Following Up On GHS — What’s Next?
If you have any questions about GHS or any of the changes that will be made, contact a representative from RMS! We have all gone through the training multiple times and will be happy to answer your questions or help you with the new documents that you must have on site for safety purposes.
As we know, it is very difficult to categorize disinfectants as “green,” as they are killing microorganisms and may have a part in creating bacteria that is resistant to specific chemicals. The Environmental Protection Agency is looking to change this, as more disinfectants with “greener” active ingredients are being created and introduced to the market. These include products that use hydrogen peroxide as an active ingredient to clean and disinfect.
Design for the Environment (DfE) Disinfectant Changes
As the industry moves forward and technology changes, we should see many new products that will meet the EPA’s guidelines to be considered as “green” disinfectants. As your RMS representative about hydrogen peroxide based disinfectants today!
